Joining Skiddaw u3a.
To join Skiddaw u3a please complete an application form which can be downloaded by clicking this link Membership Application.
- Please note this is a two page document so please complete both pages.
- If you are happy for us to share your name and address with the 'Third Age Trust' so that they can send you the 'Third Age Matters' and 'Sources' magazines you must tick the box to give your consent and sign the form.
- If you a UK tax payer please consider signing the Gift Aid Declaration which will enable Skiddaw u3a to reclaim tax on your donation.
- Skiddaw u3a is a registered charity and payments to charities are considered donations and are not refundable.
- Our membership year runs from 1st March to the end of February. The fee varies according to when you join.
- March to August £12.
- September to December £6.
- January & February £12, with membership extended to include the following year.
- Payment can be by Cheque, Cash or BACS.
- If you are paying directly into our bank account (BACS) please remember to put your name in the 'reference' field of the transaction so that we can track your payment. The account details are Sort Code 16-52-21 Account No.52400181 Account Name Skiddaw u3a
- We do not issue membership cards. On receipt of your application form and membership fee you will receive a confirmatory email which can be shown as proof of membership.

Or send a scanned copy of completed membership form as an attachment to membership@skiddawu3a.co.uk. Note, this has to done from your email app as attachments cannot be sent from the Contact form on this website.
Or hand it to a committee member at one of our monthly meetings.
Current Members
Membership for all current full members is valid until 28th February 2026. Membership renewal fee for 2025-26 is £12.00 per person, this fee includes a £4 membership fee paid to our national organisation, the Third Age Trust.
Renewals
Membership for all current members is valid until 28th February 2026, a renewal reminder will be sent to members in January 2026.
Re-joining Skiddaw u3a
If your membership has lapsed and you wish to re-join please contact the Membership Secretary Please indicate that you have previously been a member and give your membership number if known.
Associate Membership
Any full member of another u3a can apply to become an Associate Member of Skiddaw u3a. The Associate membership fee is charged on a reciprocal basis. So if there is no fee for Skiddaw u3a members to join your u3a then you can join for free. If your u3a charges Skiddaw members to join then the same amount will be requested for you to join Skiddaw u3a. The conditions applying to Associate Membership are:
- That you have a valid and current membership of another u3a
- There is no waiting list for the activity you wish to join
- No Associate Member may join a waiting list for any of Skiddaw u3a activities.
- You pay the costs of the activity on the same basis as full members
- The associate membership year is that of Skiddaw u3a not your parent u3a
- You cannot become a group convenors as convenors have to be full members of Skiddaw u3a
