Reflections on the Great Ethiopian Famine of the 1980s
The reasons for the famines in Ethiopia are complex, but largely due to political corruption and incompetence combined with the failure of the rains. Joe will put the story into a wider context, both historically and climatically, and look at the lessons learned and the implications for us all.
Joe has 20 years teaching humanities in Kenya, Papua New Guinea and England, 20 years working for Oxfam in communications and another 15 as a Fairtrade campaigner, Joe Human has had a lifetime telling stories of people on the frontline. Now involved with Sustainable Keswick he is putting his time and energies into communicating through words and pictures the realities of life for people on the frontline of climate change.
